Sandy

Hi everyone--I thought I'd give you a sense of the big storm from our point of view.  The kids have no school today or tomorrow and even the hard-nosed attorneys at Riker Danzig closed the law firm so Ron's working from home today.  It started getting breezy yesterday and the wind and rain have gradually picked up today.  I took the above video around 12:00 pm our time.  We live 40 miles inland and up on a big hill so flooding won't be a problem for us.  We have a generator that wasn't starting but we managed to get it seen and fixed by a repairman this morning so that was a big blessing and means we'll be find if the power goes out.  We're a little nervous about these big trees that surround our house but there's not much we can do about that.  This video was taken around 2:30:

I'll try and do another video before it gets dark--the worst of the storm is supposed to hit us around 8:00.

Hope you all are doing well!

Love,

Jen

dads grave site

I know its not really a grave...but what do you call it? I am missing dad a lot these days, I always do as November comes around, as I am sure you all do.
I drive by dad's "resting place" every single day, multiple times a day, and feel bad that there isnt more to it.  I feel like there should be something there besides the rock I painted with a heart.  I made a family picture, but it broke & there are a few new additions to our family.  And flowers die.  I am looking for suggestions for something that I can put/make/buy to put in front of his "door".  I guess, I would like to drive up Union, (like i do multiple times a day)...and see something by his site, it just seems....lonely.
On a side note...I think I am going to talk to the funeral people to see if we can put his dates on his slab....thoughts?
thanks, love and miss everyone

Spokane visit

I am so glad that I decided to go up to Spokane last minute.  It was so fun to meet Beck (& see Melanie).  When Melanie walked into the restaurant with Beck, we (Jon, Mom, & I) were frantic to hold him.  He was so bright eyed and alert & constantly moving.  He was so much bigger than I thought it would be.  He is such a cute little man.  He was intently staring at Faye and trying to figure her out.  I really enjoyed our short visit with them!  Then me and the 3 girls and mom went off to explore Gonzaga with Jon.  He has a VERY nice apt.  & the campus was beautiful and clean.  Everyone we walked by seemed to be friendly and smile at me.  I was very alarmed by this.  It seems like a very nice place to study.    Question is....who will Jon root for? Bulldogs or Cougars??
Thanks Melanie and Jon!  That was a really fun day for me & my girls!!!
