Critical Acclaim

Does Dolly Parton, the author of hundereds, if not thousands of songs, many of which have been best sellers, qualify as a legitimate voice critic?

Dolly Pardon is a circus show, not a singer. Did you see her performance on the elimination show? It was rancid. She is right about David Archuleta--he is a good singer. But you can be a good singer and a dull, one-dimensional performer.

The millions of records she has sold whether by her voice or the voice of artists singing her songs is sufficient to establish her singing, songwriting, and voice judging credintials. I agree with you that her time has past, but you cannot argue against her earlier successes.

The one-dimensional singers are the hard rock/rap imposters who are a "circus" presenting a "dull" product and possessing no artistic value whatsover.

I am open to being taught a different view.

i think dolly is a great songwriter. i am actually a dolly fan. (so is michael)but while i watched this clip, i got the impression that she was trying to help him build more confidence. i sensed that she felt sorry for him. she could hear in his whispy, quivering voice, that he knows his time is almost up.

I was profoundly moved by David Archuleta's performance of "Smokey Mountain Memories." Seldom have I seen so much wisdom, such grace and overwhelming performance prowess in one individual. Not only do I think he should win American Idol, but I also think that he should be the Republican nominee to take on Barack Obama for the White House in 2008. America needs him!
