Driver's License

I have finally obtained my driver's license. Now I have three years of Sun Mart runs to look forward to. But I can also control when I get to school, and when I can drive myself home. I don't have to rely on Mom and Dad to take me places anymore. I always hated asking them for rides to places. Once Track season is over, I might try and find some sort of job. A kid has offered me a job mowing lawns, or I could apply at McDonalds. Now I am the Master.

Yes Evan, you're on the road now. That's a little scary. But yes, you will mostly be doing Sun Mart runs for dad late at night. Every night when I'd come home at midnight dad was always waiting to turn me right back around and get him a squirt from Sun Mart. Try not to give in so much. That kind of late night eating is not good for him. Put your foot down sometimes and don't let him get away with it, even if he says you can get something too.

Congratulations Evan on your newfound freedom! And by the way, I passed the first time around Jonny.

Freedom is yours! When dad asks you to go to sunmart, take the money and bring him back a piece of fruit instead of the standard Mr. Goodbar. I can see you as a lawn mowing ruffian this summer--with darkened skin, and a pirate-like demeanor from the manual labor.

Those late night trips to sunmart have evolved to healthy eating over the years.

Evan will now be retrieving for me on occasion the following:

peanuts (salted in the shell) for protein,

hostess cherry pies for fruit intake,

pepperoni sticks again for protein, meat intake,

cheez-its for dairy intake,

chocolate milk (as opposed to soda) for dairy.

So you can see how I have become a more healthy eater with the late night sunmart runs.

Mom is against me being allowed to drive. She thinks I shouldn't drive until my Senior year. She has no confidence in my driving skills, and thinks that I would try and show off. So in the meantime, one of the cars sits uselessly in the driveway, and mom and dad will continue ferrying me around.

Of course Evan will be allowed to drive sometimes. His driving privileges will be enhanced as he exhibits respect for the car owners and the rules of the road. It may be a bit of an unrealistic expectation to drive to school every day as a sophomore, or even a junior. Maybe as a senior, as did the other kids, especially if Evan continues to make progress in scouting and Duty to God. Any advice from siblings?

evan should definetly get his eagle and duty to god award, they are both important indicators of a persons character, not to mention it looks good on a resume'. i regret to this day not getting my eagle.

evan...GET YOUR EAGLE! you have the most support from everyone in this family. this will make you the most distinguished bob blodgett son as none of the men in our family have gotten their eagles. my husband, of course, obtained his and is more the wiser. DO IT! you can do it!
i didnt drive to school until senior year.
